These things are hideous. My sister and BIL had one of these built and I can’t help but wonder why they chose a style that looks like all the others in their neighborhood. I must be some sort of architectural luddite.

Man, that garage. I would take it. I need more garage space. Actually, maybe you could do a special house that is mostly garage. That would be better.
In all seriousness, have you arm UK garages? I’m so happy to be going back to the states this week. People here’s don’t know how to treat their cars! Or work on them.

My wife works as an owner’s rep/construction manager for a local government entity. While the rest of the organization has been getting raises, her department has not. Things have gotten so out of whack that the people that cut the lawn make as much as a licensed electrician and they are making roughly 80% of her salary. Interns in private practice make as much as she does with 20 years of experience.
So, she’s finally cracked down and started scheduling her remaining licensing exams. One every three weeks until she is done. We put a desk in our bedroom so she could sequester herself and focus on studying. Meanwhile, the rest of the household is being run by me, now in effect, a single dad.
This fall is going to be challenging.

Must be. My house is similar to that, but one story. It's what you have to work with when you have quarter acre lots and need to get a 3/2 with 2 car garage. It definitely has great function, even if form is left wanting.

sometimes studying literally puts me to sleep. I’ve been using those videos and even signed up for thier website videos. i find it much easier to watch/listen to the guy then read a book.
how many does she have left? what exam is she on now?

Thanks for the link. I’ll pass it along.
She’s passed one and attempted another. I’m not sure which ones, but I remember her talking about mechanical systems and structures. I have no idea which she passed and which she failed.
We were looking into one of the multi-week crash courses, but she decided she would rather get disciplined, study on her own, and save the money for the exam expenses. The rest of us are working toward that goal by running the household and encouraging/cajoling her to go back to her room any time she wanders out. I’ve removed the TV to eliminate one distraction, but there are others.

yea the videos will probably be a huge help then. I failed the mechanical systems on my first attempt.

That’s much better than the $3,000 plus traveling expenses she was considering for either the two-week or every-other-weekend crash courses she was looking at. My wallet still thanks you!
